Landmine blast kills civilian in Azerbaijan's Fuzuli

A civilian has died after stepping on a landmine in Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli district.

The incident occurred in the village of Ashagi Veysalli, News.Az reports.

Hajiyev Ramil, a 58-year-old resident of Aghdam district, stepped on an anti-vehicle landmine while herding cattle on horseback. He died instantly.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Large areas of Azerbaijan’s territories liberated after the Karabakh conflict remain contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance. Mines pose a serious risk to civilians, livestock, and infrastructure, and authorities have been conducting extensive clearance operations in affected districts, including Fuzuli, Aghdam, and Jabrayil.
