Azerbaijan, NATO discuss progress in Baku-Yerevan peace talks
Azerbaijan’s presidential special representative, Elchin Amirbayov, met NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Šekerinska in Baku on Thursday to discuss the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and prospects for Azerbaijan-NATO cooperation.
The meeting highlighted the first visit to Azerbaijan in 2025 by ambassadors of NATO’s North Atlantic Council, as well as their meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, as a significant milestone in the history of the Azerbaijan–NATO partnership, News.Az reports, citing local media.
The two sides held an extensive discussion on the current state and future prospects of the mutually beneficial Azerbaijan-NATO partnership, Azerbaijan’s contribution as an active and reliable partner to NATO-led peace support operations, Europe’s energy security, cooperation in the field of humanitarian demining, and other issues related to regional security and the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace agenda.
