Khakhaleva was detained at Baku airport in late January at the request of Russian authorities. However, an Azerbaijani court later denied the extradition request.
"After the court decision to refuse extradition, she left Azerbaijan and went to a third country," Humbatova stated.
The court's refusal to extradite her to Russia proved decisive in enabling her departure. The defense team currently does not know Khakhaleva's whereabouts.
