The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported Sunday morning that the risk of Hurricane Kiko directly hitting the Hawaiian Islands is decreasing.

Hawaii has declared a state of emergency in preparation for potential severe weather from Hurricane Kiko, officials announced.

Hurricane Kiko has rapidly intensified into a major Category 4 storm over the Pacific Ocean, coinciding with Hurricane Lorena preparing to strike Mexico’s Baja California.
