Georgia’s government is preparing fresh restrictions on public demonstrations, proposing amendments that would require protest organisers to notify state bodies in advance before holding pickets.

Georgia’s ruling party has introduced a legislative package in Parliament to eliminate the mandatory participation of civil society organizations in all public decision-making processes.

The Parliament of Georgia has approved a draft resolution to hold the next presidential election on December 14, with the inauguration of the newly elected president scheduled for December 29.

Georgia's newly elected parliament opened Monday with opposition lawmakers and the ceremonial president absent, while thousands of protesters gathered outside, accusing the ruling party of election rigging under Russian influence, News.az reports citing The Washington Times.

The Georgian Parliament will adopt the "foreign agent " law in its third and final reading tomorrow, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at a briefing.
