Russia is ready to offer India increased liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from both existing and upcoming projects, Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilyov announced.

Qatar has warned it may redirect liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports away from the European Union if the bloc proceeds with its new corporate sustainability law, a letter obtained by Reuters shows.

Amidst a global energy crisis and rising geopolitical tensions, securing reliable gas supplies has become a top priority for European countries. The UK, in response, is reinforcing its standing in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) market by securing long-term contracts with major global suppliers. A recent deal between British energy giant Centrica and American company Coterra Energy marks a significant move in this strategy, bolstering the UK's energy security and reducing dependence on unstable markets.

The European Union continues to face significant challenges in its efforts to reduce dependency on Russian gas. Despite ambitious plans, such as the REPowerEU project, aimed at completely ending Russian gas imports by 2027, the energy market suggests that accomplishing this goal will be extremely difficult. The main issue lies in the fact that Russian gas continues to flow into Europe, and in some cases, the region's reliance on these supplies is even increasing, threatening the EU’s long-term energy security strategies.

LNG supplies from European terminals to the EU's gas transport system experienced a significant decline in August 2024, reaching their lowest level since October 2021, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).

At the end of July 2024, Europe imported 1.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas ( LNG ) from the United States and 1.3 million tons from Russia, News.az reports citing Neftegaz.ru .
