Flash floods triggered by rising river levels and breaches in embankments have directly impacted more than 4 million people in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province, News.Az reports, citingXinhua.

Pakistani authorities have deployed the army in northeastern Punjab province to aid rescue and relief efforts amid a flood emergency caused by heavy rains and the release of water from overflowing dams in India.

Rescue teams in northwest Pakistan have recovered more bodies from a mountain village hit by flash floods triggered by a cloudburst, raising the death toll there to at least 20, local authorities said.

Authorities in Pakistan have resumed rescue and relief operations in the country’s northwest after flash floods claimed over 300 lives, officials said Monday. Heavy rains, which began Friday, forced temporary suspension of rescue efforts in several districts.

Heavy monsoon rains have unleashed devastating floods across Gilgit-Baltistan, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 people and injuries to four others, local media reported Sunday. The floods have caused infrastructure damage exceeding PKR 20 billion.

Rain-triggered flash floods continued to batter northern Pakistan, washing away neighborhoods, triggering landslides, and killing at least 35 people over the past 48 hours, officials and locals said.
