China on Saturday expressed opposition to a package of export control bills introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, warning against what it called the over-extension of the concept of national security and the misuse of export controls, News.Az reports, citing Xinhua.

The U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee recently passed the Multilateral Alignment of Technology Controls on Hardware, known as the MATCH Act, along with several other export-related measures.

A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce said that if enacted, the proposed bills would seriously undermine the international economic and trade order and significantly disrupt the stability of global semiconductor industrial and supply chains.

The spokesperson added that China will closely monitor the legislative process, carefully assess its impact on Chinese interests, and take “resolute and necessary measures” to firmly protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
