The Los Angeles Dodgers, powered by a three-run third inning and another dominant outing from Yoshinobu Yamamoto, defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 3–1 on Friday to force a decisive Game 7 in the World Series.

The defending champions fended off a ninth-inning rally by the Blue Jays to even Major League Baseball’s best-of-seven championship series at three games apiece, News.Az reports, citing foreign media.

The Dodgers kept alive their bid to become the first team in 25 years to win back-to-back titles, while the Blue Jays will aim to capture their first championship in 32 years when they host Game 7 on Saturday.

With Toronto threatening in the ninth — runners on second and third with no outs — Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow entered in relief. He retired Ernie Clement on a fly out before Andres Gimenez lined into a game-ending double play, as left fielder Enrique “Kiké” Hernández caught the ball and threw to Miguel Rojas at second to double off Addison Barger for the final out.

"That was crazy," said Mookie Betts of the dramatic finish. "I thought it was a bloop hit, and I saw Kike running to catch it... I was screaming 'two, two, two!' But his instincts are so good — he probably saw the play himself. That was a sick catch."

Manager Dave Roberts said he had no hesitation turning to Glasnow after closer Roki Sasaki ran into trouble.

"This is do or die," Roberts said. "You've got to leave it all out there and pick up the pieces. Roki wasn’t as sharp, and I felt Glas was a guy with swing-and-miss stuff, so I wanted to bet on him."

Glasnow’s brief relief appearance could pave the way for Shohei Ohtani to pitch in Game 7.

"There's no wrong answer," Roberts added. "He’s certainly going to be part of the pitching plan. With Shohei, it could be two innings or it could be four. We’ll talk to him to see where he’s most comfortable."
