El Al Israel Airlines has announced it will exercise its option to purchase six additional Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, as part of a long-term strategy to expand capacity and improve profitability.

Air India has grounded a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner after one of its pilots reported a possible defect involving the aircraft’s fuel control switch.

India’s aviation regulator has directed Air India to carry out inspections of the emergency power system, known as the Ram Air Turbine (RAT), on several of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft following a recent in-flight deployment incident.

Boeing announced a $1 billion investment to expand its South Carolina facilities in order to expand production of the 787 Dreamliner.
