A 65-year-old man has died after slipping and falling more than 100 feet from the edge of the Grand Canyon’s west rim, authorities confirmed on Friday.

China’s Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge has successfully completed a five-day load-bearing test, the final step before its scheduled opening in late September.

The Dragon Bravo Fire has rapidly expanded to 94,228 acres on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, while containment has sharply decreased to just 4%, according to federal officials.

The White Sage Fire has forced the closure of the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park and the evacuation of nearby areas, including Jacob Lake, as the blaze inches dangerously closer to populated zones.
