Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organisation says it has dismantled an alleged spy network linked to Israel’s Mossad before it could transmit the locations of Iranian air defence systems.

According to Fars News Agency, the network was identified and broken up in a coordinated operation by IRGC intelligence, with assistance from public reports, News.Az reports.

Iranian authorities alleged the group was linked to a pro-monarchy faction and had been involved in unrest while transmitting classified information to what it described as hostile Israeli-linked channels. The report also claimed the network had received equipment, including Starlink devices and weapons, from abroad.

Officials said the group’s mission included inciting unrest and gathering sensitive military information, including air defence positions. It added that the suspects were detained before any such data could be passed on.

The IRGC warned that espionage-related offences can carry severe penalties, including asset confiscation and the death penalty, under Iranian law, and urged the public to report suspicious activity.
