Ukraine's Rada may hold extraordinary session with Zelensky's participation
An extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada with the participation of the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky may be held in Ukraine on October 16, the publication "Strana.ua" wrote on its Telegram channel, News.Az reports citing Lenta.Ru.
"The deputies were asked to promptly confirm their presence at the session," the agency's source said.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada registered a bill proposing to ban foreigners and citizens with close relatives with a Russian passport from holding senior military positions. It is noted that such a decision may conflict with the recently adopted law allowing foreigners and stateless persons to hold officer positions in the Ukrainian army.
In October, the Ukrainian parliament adopted a law on unauthorized abandonment of a military unit and desertion in the first reading. In accordance with the bill, during martial law, military personnel who have voluntarily left their places of service for the first time and voluntarily returned to the ranks of the Ukrainian army will be exempt from punishment.
