France plans to increase its defense budget by 36 billion euros ($39 billion) by 2030, according to a proposal unveiled Wednesday by the Defense Ministry.

On Friday, US President Donald Trump proposed a historic $1.5 trillion defense budget for fiscal year 2027, the largest in US history, while also advocating for significant reductions in domestic spending.

China’s defense budget is expected to grow by about 7 percent in 2026, according to a draft budget report submitted to the national legislature for review on Thursday.
