The annual Lyrid Meteor Shower is set to reach its spectacular peak on the night of April 21 into the early morning of April 22, 2026.

Stargazers are in for a celestial treat this week as the Lyrid meteor shower prepares to reach its annual peak.

The world’s oldest known meteor shower is once again set to light up our skies from tonight, but the question on everyone’s mind is whether you’ll be able to see the Lyrid meteor shower.

The Perseid meteor shower reached its peak on August 12–13, 2025, putting on a spectacular display of shooting stars that captivated stargazers around the world, even as a waning gibbous moon brightened the night sky.

Stargazers in the Northern Hemisphere will have their best chance tonight to witness the Perseids, one of the year’s most spectacular meteor showers. The annual event, active since mid-July, peaks overnight on August 12, though meteors will remain visible for another two weeks.

Stargazers are in for a treat as the highly anticipated Perseid meteor shower kicks off this year, beginning on Thursday, July 17, and running through August 24.

A spectacular Lyrid meteor shower will be visible from mid-to-late April, according to the Department of Astrophysics at Baku State University.
