Afghan air forces have rescued 158 people stranded by flooding in the eastern province of Nangarhar, the provincial government office said in a statement on Wednesday.

 Pakistan’s armed forces have carried out a successful air operation in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, destroying the Khogani base.

Targeted air strikes have destroyed the headquarters of the Afghan army in Kandahar and Nangarhar provinces.

Clashes have been reported along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border, particularly near the Durand Line, the disputed frontier separating the two countries.

Local media in Afghanistan reported on Tuesday that clashes broke out on Tuesday afternoon between Afghan and Pakistani forces in the border areas, and the fighting is still ongoing.

An unexploded ordnance from past conflicts detonated in eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province on Wednesday, killing a shepherd, according to local police. The blast occurred in Spinghar district, provincial spokesperson Sayed Tayeb Hemad said.

Survivors of last week’s deadly earthquakes in Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar and Nangarhar provinces say they will not return to their mountain villages, fearing further landslides triggered by aftershocks and rain.
