The Chinese subsidiary of Dutch chipmaker Nexperia said on Monday it has successfully begun small-batch production of 12-inch wafer bipolar discrete devices, even as disputes between the Chinese unit and its Dutch headquarters continue.

China's commerce ministry on Saturday raised the possibility of ‌another global semiconductor supply chain crisis due to "new conflicts" between Dutch chipmaker Nexperia and its Chinese subsidiary.

Dutch chipmaker Nexperia said its Chinese subsidiary has restored most operations after a major internal disruption temporarily blocked employees’ access to company systems.

Dutch state-owned finance institution Invest International will provide chipmaker Nexperia with a $60 million loan to support a series of global investments in its production sites, it said in a statement on Monday.

A Dutch court on Wednesday ordered a formal investigation into alleged mismanagement at Dutch semiconductor company Nexperia, which is owned by China’s Wingtech Technology and has become a focal point in geopolitical tensions over critical chip technology.

Dutch chipmaker Nexperia’s European executives are in court Wednesday, challenging the company’s Chinese owner, Wingtech, over alleged mismanagement and control disputes. The conflict has contributed to chip shortages affecting carmakers.

Wingtech Technology, the Chinese owner of Netherlands-based Nexperia, is selecting local firms to supply silicon wafers and expanding domestic packaging capacity. Wingtech expects most of the selection process to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.

China’s Wingtech Technology must regain control of the Netherlands-based chipmaker Nexperia, the company’s chairman Yang Mu said on Friday.

Nexperia’s China unit has secured local silicon wafer supplies to cover its entire 2026 production of key power chips, deepening its split from the Dutch parent company.

Wingtech, the Chinese parent of Dutch chipmaker Nexperia, has invited the court-appointed custodians of its Netherlands unit to Beijing for talks on company control.
