The United Nations has appointed Igor Garafulic as Interim Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, according to information published on the UN’s official website.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is concluding its operations in Azerbaijan, according to the UNDP office in the country, News.Az reports, citing local media.

Marcos Neto, UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Assistant Administrator, praised Azerbaijan's efforts to tackle climate change during his address at COP29 on Thursday.

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Ivana Živković, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), who is visiting the country to attend the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, News.Az reports.

The UNDP Resident Representative in Azerbaijan, Alessandra Roccasalvo, expressed her gratitude to the country for its strong support of the multilateral system addressing climate change.
