Children wounded after drone strike in Luhansk region

Russian authorities said the attack targeted a dormitory at Starobilsk college of Luhansk Pedagogical University, where 86 teenagers aged between 14 and 18 were sleeping at the time of the strike, News.Az reports, citing Reuters.

Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova accused the Ukrainian armed forces of carrying out “a targeted strike on sleeping children.”

Leonid Pasechnik, the top Russian-installed official in Luhansk, said rescue workers continued searching through the rubble for children believed to be trapped beneath the debris. He added that two people had already been pulled from the collapsed building.

Photos and videos released by Russian authorities showed heavily damaged structures, fires burning at the site and emergency workers carrying victims from the rubble. One of the buildings appeared to have partially collapsed following the strike.

Reuters said it could not independently verify the reports, while there was no immediate comment from Ukraine regarding the incident.
