Azerbaijan is rapidly modernizing its logistics and transport infrastructure to cement its role as a key hub on major international trade routes.

The Baku International Sea Port, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC and part of AZCON Holding, handled a total of 6.108 million tons of cargo in the first nine months of 2025 — its best performance in 22 years.

On April 9, Shahin Mustafayev, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Co-Chair of the State Commission on Economic, Trade, and Humanitarian Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran, along with Farzaneh Sadegh, the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Co-Chair of the Commission from Iran, visited the Baku International Sea Trade Port, accompanied by delegates from both countries.

During the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, an agreement was signed to implement a project for the establishment of an intermodal cargo terminal at the Baku International Sea Trade Port in Alat.

Leading Brazilian private companies, as part of the delegation from the National Confederation of Industry of Brazil (CNI), will negotiate with the management of the Baku International Sea Trade Port (BISTP) certified as a Green Port by the UN maritime organization, within the COP2.
