U.S. Border Patrol agents have detained more than 130 people in Charlotte, North Carolina, during the first two days of a major federal immigration operation, authorities confirmed on Monday. The arrests come as President Donald Trump’s nationwide mass-deportation campaign intensifies across southern states.

Authorities have named 21-year-old Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez as the suspect in the shooting of an off-duty U.S. Border Patrol agent late Saturday night in Fort Washington Park, Manhattan. The agent, 42, was shot in the face and arm but is expected to survive.

The US and Mexico agreed to conduct coordinated patrols on their respective sides of the border to enhance security, the Pentagon said Wednesday.
