A NATO Patriot missile defense system has been deployed in Malatya, Türkiye, as part of enhanced air and missile defense measures amid rising regional tensions, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense said.

Seven people were injured in an armed fight at a workplace in the Cirikpınar neighborhood of Malatya, local authorities said. The suspect, who allegedly opened fire with a shotgun, has been detained.

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake jolted eastern Türkiye on Wednesday, according to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
