Two Singaporean nationals who had been missing for several days following the eruption of Mount Dukono on Indonesia’s Halmahera island were confirmed dead on Sunday, according to local rescue authorities.

Indonesian authorities are rushing to rescue ​20 hikers after the eruption of Mount ‌Dukono on Halmahera island on Friday, a local rescue agency official told Reuters.

Mount Dukono in North Halmahera, Indonesia's North Maluku, erupted again on Friday morning, belching volcanic ash up to a height of about 1.1 kilometers above its summit.

Mount Dukono, located in Indonesia's North Maluku province, erupted on Thursday, triggering an aviation warning from the country's Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center.
